Thank you for visiting my site!

My name is Zihao Yu, and I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Texas A&M University. I am a quantitative biologist by training, focusing on bacteria and their viruses (bacteriophages). I extensively use microscopy and biophysical modeling as key techniques to investigate scientific questions.

For me, this journey in microscopy began with my passion for photography, and the two benefit from each other by shaping how I think about imaging, observation, and interpretation.

This is my first attempt at building my own website. Here, I will mainly share reviews of photographic gear, scientific side notes on microscopy and general experimental techniques, as well as some of my random thoughts on science and philosophy.

Feel free to leave comments or contact me if you’d like to discuss further!
